The Board of Directors approves the extension of the AWT and GPS concessions
The Board of Directors of the Port Authority, meeting this afternoon, approved the extension of the concession for the All Weather Terminal (Covered Terminal) for a period of ten years. The applicant, Galigrain S.A.U., is invoking the provisions for the concession title in Article 82.2.a) of the Ports Law. The Covered Terminal is a pioneering multimodal facility in the port sector, offering ship loading and unloading services, cargo handling and distribution, and storage capacity in a covered space protected from the elements. The AWT in Marín is currently a member of the European Association of Covered Terminals. Its main cargo is paper pulp produced at the ENCE biofactory and destined for several European countries. The Terminal also receives shipments of steel products from large business groups in the automotive, appliance, and other industries.
On the other hand, the Board approved granting another ten-year extension to the concession period for Galicia Processing Seafood S.A. (GPS), which operates a fish processing plant in the port. This extension was granted in accordance with Article 82.2.b) of the Ports Law, due to significant investment. The Port of Marín has consolidated its position in recent years as a logistics center for the reception, processing, preparation, storage, and distribution of frozen fish products, boasting a total cold storage capacity exceeding 262,000 cubic meters. Activities related to the frozen fish trade are also among the largest employers within the port area.
Electronic Registry
The Board of Directors approved the signing of an agreement between the Port Authority and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation for the provision of services associated with the GEISER application (integrated management of registry services). Through it, a better technological solution can be offered to users for the management of official entry and exit records as well as for the exchange of documentation both internally and with other organizations, of the documentation that accompanies the records.
