ACCESS CONTROL

In accordance with current legislation, the Port Authority is responsible for police service in common areas and controlling land traffic, both of people and goods.

By applying Access Control, the entry and exit of both vehicles and people must be monitored.

In order to enhance the service and foster a culture of security between users and the port community, a number of questions to bear in mind regarding this control procedure are explained below.

 

THE TEN MAIN POINTS CONCERNING PORT ACCESS.INFORMATION FOR USERS

  • 1. YOU MUST BE AUTHORISED TO ENTER THE PORT.
  • 2. IF YOU WORK AT THE PORT, YOU MUST HAVE A MAGNETIC CARD AND/OR ENTRY PERMIT TO THE PORT FOR YOUR PRIVATE CAR OR VEHICLE. Companies on site are responsible for managing entry cards for their workers, both their own employees and subcontractors. . Go to the Port Operations offices to LIST A VEHICLE LICENSE PLATE NUMBER. IF YOU YOU DO NOT HAVE A MAGNETIC ENTRY CARD AND/OR ENTRY PERMIT TO THE PORT AND ITS ROAD SYSTEM YOU MUST TELL THE PORT POLICE THE REASON FOR YOUR VISIT, and be ready to identify yourself if requested by the Port Police.
  • 3. YOU MUST CARRY YOUR MAGNETIC ENTRY CARD WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES. The card is PERSONAL AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. Please be aware that if for any reason the license plate reader fails, you should swipe the card through the reader on your left. Apart from having your license plate authorised, if you regularly use the pedestrian turnstiles, you should request your magnetic card be enabled to open them.
  • 4. ALWAYS STOP AT THE STOP SIGN AND FOLLOW THE TRAFFIC LIGHT COLOUR. DO NOT START MOVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE GREEN LIGHT SHOWS, DO NOT COME TOO CLOSE TO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. Stop and make sure the barrier opens before going forward, otherwise you may damage the barrier by not respecting the stop sign. If necessary, use the intercom on your left to speak to the Police at the Main Gate.
  •  5. AT PEDESTRIAN ACCESS POINTS: If you circumstantially need to enter or leave the port in the course of your business in the Port of Marin service area and do not have a magnetic access card, please follow the instructions displayed by the indicators at the turnstiles and use the access points enabled for this purpose. If you do have an access card for the Port of Marin because of your job, you must necessarily swipe it at the pedestrian access assigned to you.
  •  6. GOODS ENTRY. If you enter the Port with goods or fresh fish, the Port Police may require them to be identified: description and origin of the goods and quantity, and destination within the Port. If necessary, the Port Police will ask you to park your vehicle in the designated area behind the main gate, so as not to block entry while they take the details.
  •  7.  DEPARTING GOODS. The port facilities are a CUSTOMS HOUSE, so the Spanish Civil Guard is empowered to control all outgoing goods from the premises. The operating rules for stop barriers, license plate readers and turnstiles are the same as when entering - respect the STOP signs, traffic lights and follow any identification requirements given by the Civil Guard.
  •  8. VEHICLES ENTERING AND EXITING THROUGH THE BARRIERS IN MARIN IS ONLY PERMITTED BY CARS AUTHORISED TO USE THAT ACCESS POINT; IF THE LICENSE PLATE READER FAILS, USE YOUR CARD. If you do not have authorisation for that gate, you must enter the port area at the Main Gate for vehicles located at the Os Praceres (Pontevedra) end. Trucks and vehicles with a height equal to or greater than 2.50 metres are not allowed to exit the port premises through the Marin barrier – please pay attention to the signalling at that point and the headroom gauge installed there.
  • 9. PEDESTRIANS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER THE PORT THROUGH THE VEHICLE BARRIERS. Please remember that pedestrian entry to the port is not allowed through vehicle entry and exit barriers. Bicycles and motorcycles must use their access cards at the barrier control.
  • 10. IN THE EVENT OF AN INCIDENT, KEEP CALM, THE PORT POLICE WORK TO PROTECT YOUR SAFETY AND WILL TELL YOU HOW TO PROCEED. REMEMBER THAT IF YOU WORK IN THE PORT, YOU MUST HAVE A MAGNETIC ENTRY CARD AND/OR ACESS PERMIT TO THE PORT AND ROAD SYSTEM FOR YOUR PRIVATE CAR. OUR WORK IS TO HELP YOU. Policing common areas is the responsibility of the Port Authority, as is controlling both sea and land traffic in the Port (Article 106 of the Consolidated Text of the State Ports and Merchant Navy Act, and Article 6 of the current Operating and Policing Regulations for the Port of Marín).

Entry to the port is restricted to people and vehicles that, in view of their work or services, are duly authorised (Article 6 Operating and Policing Regulations).

Therefore, the Port Police are under the obligation to monitor entry to the port by people through the turnstiles and vehicles through the vehicle access points, to prevent accidents or security issues and to protect the facilities in order to ensure that all port operations and work by people and companies in the port are carried out in the safest and most efficient way.
