Suárez Costa Welcomes the Crew of the Patrol Boat Tabarca
The President of the Port Authority welcomed the crew of the patrol boat Tabarca this morning, along with its commanding officer, Lieutenant Commander Pablo Lewicki, who presented the institution with a watercolor painting of the patrol boat at its home base at the Naval Military Academy in Marín. The Tabarca entered service with the Spanish Navy on December 31, 1981, and has been based at the Naval Military Academy ever since. Its primary mission, as a member of the Maritime Action Force, is to conduct maritime surveillance to protect national maritime interests. It also participates in the training of Naval Academy students, collaborates with other Navy units, and cooperates with civilian organizations on various tasks. It is the eighth vessel in the “ANAGA” series, initially composed of ten units, of which three remain in service. This patrol boat takes its name from Tabarca, a small island in the province of Alicante. The current crew of the Tabarca, commanded by Pablo Lewicki, attended a presentation on the operation of the state port system given by the Port Authority Director, Miguel Ángel Navarro. Afterwards, they toured the port facilities to learn more about the various specialized terminals the port offers.
