The Port Authority awards TECNORED S.A. the electrical installation project at the Reboredo docks
The contracting committee of the Port Authority of Marín awarded TECNORED S.A. the contract for the underground high-voltage (HV) electrical infrastructure project to supply power to a new 2,000 kVA switching station at the Reboredo docks of the container terminal. The purpose of this work is the future installation of an Onshore Power Supply (OPS) system for the berthing of container ships at the Reboredo docks. The contract was awarded for €318,000 (VAT included) and has a completion timeframe of six months. The project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 4 program.
The electrification of docks using Onshore Power Supply (OPS) systems is a system for supplying energy to ships in port, allowing berthed vessels to connect to the onshore power grid without using their auxiliary diesel engines, which are currently in use. This significantly reduces emissions into the atmosphere and contributes to the sustainability of maritime freight traffic. It is a fundamental measure for promoting the energy transition and the decarbonization of maritime transport. Furthermore, it also advances compliance with the European Climate Law, which has established an interim target of reducing emissions by 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels.
