The Port Authority begins the process for electrifying the Reboredo docks
The Port Authority has just launched a tender for technical assistance in drafting the electrical installation project for ships at the Adolfo Reboredo docks, in the container terminal of the Port of Marín. The project will include the installation of Onshore Power Supply (OPS) systems and a substation. The work is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) program. Dock electrification using Onshore Power Supply (OPS) systems is a method for supplying energy to ships in port. It allows docked vessels to connect to the onshore electrical grid without using their auxiliary diesel engines, which are currently in use. This significantly reduces emissions and contributes to the sustainability of maritime freight traffic. It is a fundamental measure for promoting the energy transition and the decarbonization of maritime transport.
