The Port Authority launches tender for energy self-consumption works in its buildings
The Port Authority has just launched a tender for the installation of photovoltaic panels with storage systems in several of its buildings. This project falls within the strategic objectives of improving energy efficiency and reducing the carbon footprint, in line with national and international guidelines on energy transition. The project, valued at €1.4 million, is co-financed by the European Union's ERDF Funds (European Regional Development Fund 4). The buildings to be upgraded are the Border Inspection Post (BIP) and the Port Authority's office building (administrative headquarters), which are currently supplied by the electrical grid. The roofs of both buildings offer an ideal platform for solar energy capture, enabling the generation of clean energy. The project includes the generation of photovoltaic energy with battery storage, which will allow more than 80% of the energy generated to be used for on-site consumption, thus reducing dependence on the main grid and lowering CO2 emissions. This project, which has a nine-month execution period, also contributes to the port system's Energy Sustainability Plan and the economy's decarbonization goals.
