This week, a training course on the handling of hazardous materials is being held at the facilities of the Port Authority of Marín and Pontevedra Estuary. In addition to port personnel, dock and terminal operators from other Galician ports of general interest are attending. The course is being taught by the specialized company COMISMAR and focuses on the SOLAS Convention (International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea). During the morning and afternoon sessions, which began on Monday, topics covered include the transport of hazardous materials, the various regulations related to protective measures for handling and storing these materials, emergency plans, pollution prevention, packaging and labeling, as well as first aid related to hazardous materials. The training also includes practical exercises on specific fire extinguishing techniques.
