The Port Authority will participate tomorrow in an emergency drill in the Pontevedra Estuary
The Port Authority will participate tomorrow, Friday, at midday, along with other institutions, in an emergency drill in the waters of the Pontevedra Estuary. The drill involves coordinating the different services in a simulated fire on a recreational vessel with a seriously injured person requiring evacuation near Tambo Island. The emergency coordination will be handled by Maritime Rescue in Vigo, and in addition to the Port Authority's own personnel and resources, the following will also participate: Galician Emergency Services 112, the Galician Coast Guard, the Vigo Maritime Authority, the Marín Maritime District, the Civil Guard Port Security Service of Marín, the Civil Guard Maritime Service, the Port Pilots' Corporation, and the company Amare Marín. The simulated fire will be set off on the Faros vessel, belonging to the Port Authority's Maritime Signals Service, near the Tenlo Chico lighthouse. The Salvamento Pesca I helicopter will participate in the rescue of the injured person, along with the Irmáns García Nodal vessel and its auxiliary boat, which will tow the recreational boat to port after it loses control. The objectives of this drill include practicing coordination between the Port Authority and various emergency services, training participating personnel, assessing response and collaboration capabilities in an emergency, and verifying an orderly and efficient transition from normal operations to emergency procedures.
