The Port Hosts a European Space Agency Meeting on the RESIST Project
The Port Authority hosted a meeting this morning between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the company responsible for installing equipment to monitor GPS signal interference—part of the RESIST project, for which the Port of Marín serves as a pilot site. The project aims to enhance the resilience and security of satellite navigation services. It develops advanced methods and technologies to detect, assess, and mitigate tampering, interference, and cyberattacks targeting Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Satellite navigation has become a cornerstone of modern society, supporting sectors such as aviation, transport, logistics, telecommunications, and energy grids. However, its growing importance also brings an increased risk of intentional interference and signal spoofing. The Port of Marín is the only European port collaborating on this project, which seeks to improve maritime protection and navigation safety through the installation of a RESIST Ground Reference Station (GRS) at its facilities. This initiative reflects the Port's firm commitment to adopting cutting-edge European technologies that strengthen navigation system resilience against interference, ensuring the highest operational safety standards for vessels and port infrastructure. By collaborating on RESIST, the Port of Marín advances maritime sector innovation, contributing to a crucial European effort to protect critical infrastructure through robust satellite navigation solutions. This proactive approach demonstrates a commitment to integrating advanced technology into daily operations, boosting both competitiveness and environmental responsibility through safer, more efficient maritime traffic management. RESIST is an example of successful collaboration among European institutions, industry, and public entities to enhance transport safety and the digital resilience of critical infrastructure.
