The Port Authority is moving forward with the electrical installation at the Reboredo Docks
The Port Authority of Marín has just launched a tender, through an open procedure, for the installation of an underground high-voltage (HV) electrical infrastructure to supply power to a new switching station with a capacity of 2,000 kVA. The purpose of this work is the future installation of an Onshore Power Supply (OPS) system for container ships berthing at the Reboredo Docks. The base budget for this project is €295,759.96 (excluding taxes), and the execution period extends to six months. The project is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 4 program. The electrification of docks using Onshore Power Supply (OPS) systems is a system for supplying power to ships in port, allowing berthed vessels to connect to the onshore electrical grid without using their auxiliary diesel engines, which are currently in use. This significantly reduces emissions into the atmosphere and contributes to the sustainability of maritime freight transport. It is a fundamental measure for promoting the energy transition and the decarbonization of maritime transport. Furthermore, it also advances compliance with the European Climate Law, which has established an interim target of reducing emissions by 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels.
